Steven isn't sure which is more shocking: the fact that there are thirty people who came through this rift thing, too, or the fact that that they haven't already teamed up to try and defeat it. It's good that people have tried, at least, but it's no one should be trying by themselves. That's how you get hurt, especially if you're up against something dangerous. Maybe these people need some coaching.

Still, this is good information to have. There are lots of people like him and the Balladeer, and when they do want to go after the rift, it'll be easy to find. All they have to do is go to the edge of the city! Pick any direction, and you can't miss it!
