Exploring the city [OPEN]

It's Christmas Day and Bruce could use a miracle or two. He doesn't know how he got here or how to get back. He can't find Tony or Avenger's Tower. To be honest, Bruce is a bit disgusted with himself at how easily he got used to having a team to rely on and a home to go back to. He's been living in a homeless shelter, looking for work. Naturally, he's missing some important papers, so he needs under the table work. That's all right. Bruce has experience at this sort of thing. Right now, he's heading for the docks, to see if he can get some work there.

She blinks at him. From his words alone, she would guess that he's lying or insane. He's certainly not lying, though -- and while her powers don't include the ability to telepathically assess sanity, she doesn't get the feeling from their interactions that his mind would be that badly damaged.

"I see," she says, taking him utterly seriously. "How do you cope with it normally?"

Blythe mulls that over. "Will you be able to stay calm if I take you back to the base?"

She knows she's asking him something he might not know, but she needs his answer. She doesn't want to write him off as too dangerous to be free -- she's very hesitant to make that judgment call even when that's where the evidence points, and she's not sure it does in this case.

"I can see why you were worried about being in the city," says Blythe thoughtfully. The alternative, though -- that they try to get him out of Manhattan -- would likely prove quite dangerous. "I don't think most of those things are more likely to happen at the base than at the shelter," she points out.

Blythe smiles at the joke. "We do have defenses," she points out. "And they don't actually know where we are." By luck and hard work.

"The way I see it, we have two choices," replies Blythe thoughtfully. "We take you back to the base, where we can at least try to keep you from transforming into the -- the Hulk, you said? Or else we leave you where you are, and eventually someone gets at you there."

She doesn't mention the third possibility -- removing him from Manhattan altogether -- because she's not sure she can swing that even if it's the right thing to do.

"Well, I'm not the boss of everyone, naturally," replies Blythe. "But I think the others will understand."

"We probably won't put you right in amongst the main living quarters," she muses, "But I'm sure we've dealt with worse."

Actually, she's not.

"From what you've said, I doubt we could," chuckles Blythe...though it did occur to her to wonder whether Yuri's cage would hold him. Best not to ask; his trust seems fragile enough already.

Blythe wonders whether he's sure of that because it's true or only because he's underestimating the rebels. Of course, it's not as if they have the funding or the capacity to build anything stronger than what they have for their resident werebear.

"Well, then it's good we don't have to. Do we need to stop at the shelter for any of your things, or shall we go straight back?"

"Up to you." Personally, Blythe wouldn't leave even that behind unless there was pressing need.
